Constructive design research
Course learnings
This course was an introduction to following a design research process (DRP). I learned how various approaches to design research can be taken (e.g., field, studio, showroom, lab) and how design and prototypes can take on different roles within research. This is something I also explored in other projects, e.g., in my FMP, where the final prototype functioned as a conversational tool in user critique sessions.
This led us take a field approach to investigate how designers should design for judgement of value in Product Service Systems when evaluating the context through the social practice theory in order to encourage sustainable, closed-loop activities. This included both field observations and a workshop (US).
