Constructive design research
Course activities
This course focused on applying a structured design research process and exploring how different research contexts (field, studio, showroom, and lab) shape design inquiry. Particular attention was given to the role of design artefacts and prototypes as tools for investigation and reflection within research.
Using a field-based approach, the project work explored how designers can support the judgement of value in Product-Service Systems. Social practice theory was used to analyse context and identify opportunities to encourage more sustainable, closed-loop behaviours. The research included field observations and a co-creation workshop using JudgeKit: a card-based toolkit developed to support designers in evaluating and designing sustainable Product-Service Systems.
