Integrating reflective engagement with lived experiences in the care process of young adults with type 1 diabetes
About DiaLog
The aim of this project was to investigate how reflective engagement with lived experiences can be integrated into the care process of young adults with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), enabling more conscious involvement in self-care and more meaningful conversations with care teams about the psychosocial aspects of living with T1D.
This challenge was approached through a Value Sensitive Design process, triangulating insights from previous project work, literature, and expert input to uncover the values that matter most to young adults living with T1D.
These values informed the development of DiaLog, a design concept that supports reflection on and contextualisation of lived experiences with T1D and enables their integration into consultation preparation and dialogue with the care team. DiaLog functioned as a research tool in user critique sessions with young adults with T1D and healthcare professionals, resulting in concrete design implications.
